The bases of these transducers and enclosures were made of a material called nickel-silver (also known as german silver) widely recognized as the best for this type of application. All Merlin PAF transducers are manually wound and manually assembled. During production, each transducer is twice protected with wax against coupling. The first protection is carried out immediately after winding the windings and the second after assembly of the entire transmitter. Additionally, humbuckers in enclosures are protected with wax for the third time after installing the enclosure.
